a red barn wedding

On July 22nd, Beth and Nate said I do outside of a big red barn and surrounded by their friends and family. There were so many tears and smiles and I'm so thankful they allowed me to capture it all.

Desoto, Kansas

The Barn at Kill Creek Farm

The day started out with the girls getting ready. Props to Beth because she was one of the most chill and relaxed brides I've met! Sadie (@styled.bysadie) styled everyones hair in the most beautiful braids and curls. Someone made a Starbucks run (always a good idea) and the girls all gushed over how much Beth was glowing!

Beth and Nate didn’t want to see each other before the ceremony, so we found a place for them to exchange vows without catching a glimpse but still holding hands. So so sweet!

When they finally did see each other, Nate’s reaction was full of emotion. They prayed together, smiled alot, and finally kissed and were pronounced husband and wife.

Everyone danced into the night under twinkling barn lights to celebrate Beth and Nate.

a boho woodsy wedding shoot

So wedding season is in full swing. I have loved getting to go to real weddings and capture the magic (my feet on the other hand haven't, standing up all day is no joke), but there is something so fun about setting up a stylized bridal shoot. Basically, this is where a bunch of different creatives come together to bounce off of each others talent.

I got to be the girl behind the camera for this one, but I wanted to just introduce & thank the others involved.

This whole shoot idea popped into my head when I was antique shopping in the West Bottoms in downtown Kansas City and saw a fun vintage pink couch. Thankfully they let me rent it. The store is called Martins Memories.

The other furniture in the shoot is from a new company called Wonder and Whimsy Events (@wonderandwhimsyevents on insta) -- they rent out the cutest boho decor lounges along with the coolest tipi to host events under! I don't know if anyone else enjoys anthropologie inspired decor as much as me, but it was pretty much a dream set up.

My lovely friend (@sierra_hoehn) was so kind to model for me. She's a natural! And she is wearing Cassandra Grace  (@cassandragracebridal). She creates beautiful and customizable dresses that can be found on her etsy shop. When I went to pick out dresses, I fell in love with this gold one. Even though its not your typical wedding dress, I'm really into the whole alternative bride thing. We pretty much chased the sun for a combo of a golden dress and golden hour and the results were so dreamy.

Our male model, Grayson Arachtingi (@graysonpma) was so awesome. I found him on instagram and just crossed my fingers that he would show up in real life. And he did! He even reached out to Houndstooth (@houndstoothkc), who was on board to style him for the shoot. He ended up being  so well dressed.

@yummiesbyyoka made a naked cake for us, and @emmaoldmedfloral dressed it up with some beautiful blooms. Emma also made a bouquet and greenery piece.

@hair.bycher did Sierra's hair and makeup!

And last but not least, @itsdevynmoore made the invitation suite. Dev is an old friend from high school and she is so talented! She is also making my new logo which is exciting :)

As you can see, ALOT of people were involved in this, so it was really fun to see it all come together. Big thanks to them all, it was a boho wedding dream come true.

a retro sunny swim shoot

High-waisted, vintage looking swimsuits are pretty much my favorite so I was thrilled to shoot for Red Dolly Swim -- a retro swimwear company featuring all things fun & colorful.

My two lovely models, Kaitlyn & Gracie, were so fun to get to know and shoot with! Kaitlyn was one of those people I didn't really know in person but followed on instagram, and I just felt like we were already friends! They are both super talented ladies majoring in fine arts. True beauties inside & out!

a mountain road bridal shoot

why should you consider a bridal shoot?

Who doesn't want an extra opportunity to twirl around in their wedding dress?

Wedding days are full of so many special things, why not set aside some separate time to capture you as bride before all the commotion and hustle-bustle of your big day? This is also a wonderful opportunity to have a trial run for you hair & makeup! At the end of the day, whether you decide to book a bridal shoot or not, being a bride will be such a lovely moment in your life that you will treasure forever.

"being a bride will be such a lovely moment in your life that you will treasure forever."

Having this bridal shoot up Glendora Mountain Road was pure magic. GMR is one of my favorite places to go and watch the sunset. The sun dips down and fills the cracks in between each mountain ridge so beautifully. This day was no exception!

Emily is wearing a breath-taking dress made with love by Sarah at Dame & Maiden. This was my first time working with Sara and she truly does some lovely work. Check out her etsy shop for custom-made vintage inspired wedding dresses. Her blooms are from Blue Orchid Creations, another gem find for shoppers on Etsy. Even though I love real flowers, I must say that having a silk flower boquet or hair piece would be a great option for those looking to save their wedding flowers for years to come.

a dreamy desert shoot

Earlier this year,

Nick & I went to explore Joshua Tree National Park. Even though its only a few hours away, it was my first time going to the park-- and I really loved it! Something about Joshua Tree is so peaceful and gives you a sense of contentment.

There is a certain stillness and silence about it. Being in Joshua Tree for a short few days sparked an idea in me to go back and shoot there-

And here is the result of that! I had the neat opportunity to participate in a stylized bridal shoot. This shoot was one of my favorites, ever! Maybe because it was in Joshua Tree or maybe because I had the chance to collaborate with such lovely ladies who have their own dreams and companies.

Here is a quick introduction & thank you to everyone else involved in this shoot . . .
